Hello, my name is Sam Liscum, D.C. Before I get into who I am and where I am from, I want you to understand the mission of my practice as a chiropractor and wellness consultant. My goal for each patient is to educate and treat each patient to attain the absolute highest level of health possible. As a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), I want my patients to learn about eating healthy, exercising properly, and the importance of his/her nervous system in obtaining maximal function, or health. A person cannot be healthy if anyone of the following exists: (each of equal importance to optimal health): 1). Inadequate nutrients from diet, 2). Interference in nerve communication to organ systems and/or musculoskeletal system, and 3). Improper and/or insufficient exercise program (Not just walking/running/cardio only program). Optimal health is the body functioning completely symptom free without the need for medications. I do not advocate stopping prescription medications without consulting the physician who prescribed the medication.
I graduated with a B.S. in Biological Science from the University of Houston in 1992. I received my Doctorate of Chiropractic, Magna Cum Laude from Texas Chiropractic College in 1996. I practiced as an Associate doctor for several years before partnering with Doctors in Willis, Texas in 2002. In November of 2010, I moved to the Southwest Louisiana and opened a practice here in the Capital One Tower. I have postgraduate training in Nutrition Testing, Activator technique, and certification in Applied Kinesiology. I enjoy helping my patients live life to its fullest and not being burdened with unnecessary health problems. With postgraduate training as a wellness consultant, I am able to obtain improved health in my patients by addressing three critical areas: improved nerve communication, eliminating chronic destructive effects of stress (correcting Adrenal Gland Fatigue), and eliminating chemical toxins safely from the body. Often, our office obtains best results with patients who have failed with other chiropractors, physical therapists, or other conventional methods.
I have been blessed with a beautiful family. My wife, Anne, is a wonderful school teacher for the Head start Program in Calcasieu Parish. I have two children attending Texas A&M University, Ryan and Alexis. My daughter, Ivy, is a senior at Sulphur High. My son, Fenix is attending W.W. Lewis Middle School. My son, Colton, is a kindergartener at Vincent Settlement Elementary. Finally, Cannon, my newest little tyke, joined our family January 16, 2012.
I look forward to continue helping more patients live healthier more active, energetic lives. Life is short and each of us owe it to our families to be our best. An individual should not be limited to a dull, inactive life just as a ship should not stay in the harbor, it may be safe there, but that is not what it was made for.
